Cultivation of Sugarcane

Field Preparation

Irrigation 

Sugarcane seeds are planted in moist soil. Therefore, they do not require irrigation in the beginning. But in the summer season, the plants have to be watered once a week, and in the winter, the plants must be steeped for 15 to 20 days. Apart from this, transplanting plants is done only when needed during the rainy season.

Weed Control 

Both natural and chemical methods control weeds in a sugarcane field. Its plants have to be protected from weeds only for four to five months. To get control of weeds by natural method, weeding is done once a month.

Harvesting 

It takes 10 to 12 months for the sugarcane crop to be ready. Its plants have to be harvested from near the surface of the land. Farmer brothers can profit by earning one and a half to two lakhs from their one-time crop.
